7月1日に金沢の伝統
Tradition in Kanazawa on the first of July
藩政時代、加賀藩では大寒の時期に新雪を氷室小屋に貯蔵し、夏に「氷室開き」を行って将軍家へ献上していました。金沢では今も氷室の伝統を受け継いで、寒の頃に金沢の奥地・湯涌（ゆわく）にある氷室に雪を貯蔵し、６月末に氷室開きを行っています。氷室饅頭は将軍家まで道中無事に運ばれるように祈ってつくられたそうです。
それ以来、７月１日には「氷室まんじゅう」「氷室ちくわ」などを食して無病息災を願うなわらしが、金沢の夏の風物詩となっています。
During the Han dynasty period, the Kaga clan stored fresh snow in the icehouse cabin during the cold season.
During the cold weather, the snow is stored in the icehouse, located in Kanazawa ’s hinterland.
In summer, at the end of June , the iceroom "Himuro" was opened and presented to the Shogun.
The tradition of Himuro is maintained in Kanazawa till nowadays.
Himuro Manju has been made as a pray for the safety of the shogun along the way.
Since then, on July 1, "Himuro Manju", "Himuro Fishcake" and so on, has been eaten in the hope to be spared from illness.
