私たちは京都で、すてきな時間を過ごしました。静寂を求めて宇治へ行くことに。宇治の美しい自然、宇治川、文化、伝統を求めて。。。

We spent some wonderful time in Kyoto. As I was looking for a rather quiet place, we decided to go to Uji. Uji offers beautiful nature, the Uji river, culture, tradition ...



宇治ではいにしえの時をさまようことが出来ます。私は歴史に大変興味があるので、そこにいられることを幸せに感じていました。

In Uji you can wander in the past. As I like history very much, it was a great place to be.



はじめに平等院を訪れました。そこはユネスコの世界文化遺産に登録されています。(平等院は「古都京都の文化財」の一部として登録されています：訳者)
平等院ミュージアムの建物は豪華ではありませんが、洗練されています。それが収蔵されている多くの仏像をさらに引き立てているように思います。とても印象的でした。

宇治はお茶でも有名です。茶葉を潤す朝霧がさらに味わいをよくするそうです。

We started with a visit to the Byodoin Temple. It is a Unesco world heritage. The architecture of the museum is stylish simple. That gives the many buddha statues even more value. It creates an impressive feeling.

Uji is famous for tea. The taste is nice due to the morning fog on the tea leaves.



純正宇治茶専門店・三星園上林三入本店は長い伝統のある老舗です。天正年間(1573年から1592年。征夷大将軍は足利義昭)の創業です。将軍家御用御茶師という歴史と伝統を持つ老舗なのです。

Mitsuboshien-Kanbayashisannyu-Honten is a long-established store. The shop started in the Tensho Era. Along with the long history and inherited tradition, the store is known as the master of tea ceremony for the Shogunate.



店主は出来るだけ多くの人に茶席の楽しみを伝えることを目指しています。そんな気持ちから彼は穏やかな気持ちになれる茶道の世界へ、多くの人をいざなえるよう活動しています。

天皇陛下明仁様、皇后陛下美智子様も上林さんのお茶を飲まれているそうです。

The aim of the master of the shop is to teach as many people as possible to the tea ceremony. This way he supports the peaceful feeling of the tea ceremony throughout the world.

源氏物語、後半の十帖は宇治を舞台としたものです。そのため宇治には源氏物語ミュージアムがあります。
源氏物語の舞台ですから多くのカップルが宇治川沿いを歩きたくなるのもうなずけます。

The last ten chapters of the Japanese classic novel The Tale of the Genji took place in Uji. In Uji you can visit The Tale of the Genji Museum.
No wonder, many couples like to walk along the Uji riverside.




今宵の宿はエレガントな宇治花やしき浮舟園です。川の景色がとてもロマンチックな宿でした。お風呂がバルコニーの一角にあり、温かいお湯が常に流れています。それは心地よい音色でした。お湯は長時間の歩きで心地よい疲れの体を、驚くほど癒してくれました。

We stayed in an elegant ryokan Uji Hanayashiki Ukifune-en. The view on the river was so romantic. The bath was partly on the balcony and warm water was running all the time. It was a relaxing sound. The water did wonders to our body after many hours walking.

宇治の人たちはとても親切です。中でも一人の男性がフレンドリーに話しかけてきました。私たちは彼がベルギーに二ヶ月滞在していたことを知りました。彼は私たちの言葉も話すことが出来ました。私たちが彼にフラマン語でサヨナラを言ったとき、彼は「Tot ziens!」(オランダ語で「さよなら」の意味。フラマン語でも同じ意味だと思います：訳者)と答えました。

宇治でもっと楽しみたかったのですが、接近しつつある台風のため長野へ帰らなければなりませんでした。

日本には美しい風景や伝統があります。日本の人たちは日本をもっと誇ることが出来ると思うし、私たちはその風景や伝統を共有することが出来て果報者だと思っています。

The inhabitants of Uji are very kind. One man in particular was friendly to us and wanted to talk. We came to know that he stayed in Belgium for two months. He could even speak our language. We said goodbye in Flemish to him and he responded. " Tot ziens!"(Goodbye)

There was so much more to enjoy in Uji but the approaching typhoon made us to return to Nagano.

Japan has such a beautiful scenery and tradition !!! Japanese people can be proud on their country and we are lucky to be able to share it.
